If you are not into black as much Ivory paint would look nice too. Love that ottoman. Are there matching pillows on your sofa? It would echo the reds that are elsewhere in the room and be fun accent piece. I like black furniture, but based on the second photo that shows the fireplace, curtains, and EC all right next to each other, I think painting it black might make that side of the room a little too heavy visually.
White, on the other hand, would look good too, as it would balance the white closet doors on the other side of the fireplace.Hollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11251615655963897793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8029642948131526773.post-71997157367733578942010-02-10T14:14:10.471-06:002010-02-10T14:14:10.471-06:00I'm with Amanda - paint it a distressed white,...I'm with Amanda - paint it a distressed white, maybe use some smoke glaze to age it up a bit. I like black, but since it's in the basement you might consider white with the edges shabbied up a bit to give the room a brighter look. It's really a nice piece!

NancyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00601073005728827355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8029642948131526773.post-61522775675301438072010-02-10T11:06:37.301-06:002010-02-10T11:06:37.301-06:00I totally agree, Just prime that baby and paint it...I totally agree, Just prime that baby and paint it black! Really the lines of the piece isn't bad, I think you'd be surprised at how much paint would change the look and feel. You could also do like a dark red then rub it with the glaze, and if that looks completely disasterous, then paint it black.Erin @ Puddin' Sugarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09802032351205913863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8029642948131526773.post-50493845694870903272010-02-10T09:58:26.021-06:002010-02-10T09:58:26.021-06:00What about a pickled effect?
